AIDS

HIV:AIDS fill in the blank

In the fight against HIV/AIDS the number one thing that can make a difference is the proper education of those who are most at risk of being infected.
Some charities that focus on the proper education of people who are the most risk are:
AIDS Care Education and Training http://www.acet-international.org/about.htm
Interact Worldwide http://www.interactworldwide.org/
AIDS.ORG http://www.aids.org/
UNAIDS http://www.unaids.org/en/
Besides donating directly to these charities, you can also take part in the fight against aids by buying products that support AIDS foundations. Products like the red ribbon and items from the (PRODUCT)RED give some of the profit, if not all, to help fight AIDS around the world, especially on the African continent.
A fun game concerning AIDS education is the BBC's Condom Quiz: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/3250785.stm

MALARIA

The fight against malaria to day is one that comes at it from many different sides. The first attack, as with most diseases, is the proper education of the people who are at risk. Without the proper knowledge, any efforts made afterwards would be redundant because the people who are being helped would not understand why they need the help that is being offered. Along with raising the education of those who are at risk we must also attempt to raise awareness because those who are at risk may not know that they are. The second part of the action plan of most charities that deal with malaria is to raise money to fight the disease. The money raised by these charities goes towards things such as medicines, mosquito nets, and doctors to help deal with the cases of malaria in places where medical treatment would otherwise be unavailable.
Such charities are:

Tuberculosis

The main aims tuberculosis charities is to raise money to educate those who are most at risk and to raise money to provide medical care and medication to those who would otherwise not receive any care. Many charities work in areas that also receive help from AIDS charities because of the prevalence of TB in these regions. Some TB charities are: external image tbalert_logo.gif
